A Fresh Start for Me and My Kids”
Hi, my name is Lael, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. I’m a single mom of two, doing everything I can to give my kids a life filled with stability, love, and opportunity — even when life doesn’t make that easy.
We live in a small, quiet town where jobs are few and transportation is a daily struggle. Without a car, I’ve had to turn down opportunities that could’ve helped us move forward. I’ve spent many nights worrying about the future, locking myself in the bathroom, crying so my kids wouldnt hear me, wondering how I can break this cycle and show my children that life can be better.
But I’ve also spent those nights DREAMING of going back to school, learning new skills, and finally being able to work from home so I can support my family without relying on things I don’t have.
The only thing standing in my way right now is something so simple, but so out of reach for me financially: A LAPTOP. I need a laptop to go back to school. I want to pursue cyber security, and work with companies that stop children from being exposed to abuse and child predators. I recently had to file a police report on a 19 year old male because he was talking to my 7 year old daughter on a messaging app from one of her games!! Reading the conversation made me so sick to my stomach. I had to then talk to her about the importance of stranger danger and try to not scare her with the truth. The look on her face…. Heartbreaking. So, I want to help protect these children!
I’m not asking for luxury or anything extra. A decent laptop costs between $300 to $500. Thats all I am asking for. No less than $300 no more than $500. Im just asking for a chance. A chance to learn. A chance to work. A chance to create a life where my kids can see their mom succeed and be safe, even after everything we’ve been through.
