Please help keep a roof over our heads
#1
Hi all,

My husband died in hospice from a long illness, then I got sick, lost my job of 30 years, then couldn't pay my bills and lost my home and most of my possessions. Got stuck in a homeless shelter when COVID started where they worked me to death in the kitchen, and I had to get out because my body was failing me. I'm 57 years old. There was someone I was supposed to be rooming with, but he ghosted me after I got here and so that's not going to happen.

I was able to get a room in someone's house for a month, since that was how long I thought I would need a place to be until the new place that didn't happen was ready. When I got here, I had to sign a paper saying I'd only be here a month.

Here's the thing.  I gave $500 to the owner of this house to let me stay in this small room for a month while the apartment got ready.  In the meantime, I've been trying to get a permanent job with no luck yet and I'm running out of time.  I need to find another place to go, and to do that, I need another $500 (plus $130 to pay my storage the beginning of the month) to offer someone else to let me stay in their home.  I've been able to get $300 from doing odd jobs, and I'm short $330 and getting super scared that I might end up on the street and/or lose what little possessions I have left in storage.  My teenager is displaced also, and I'm ultimately trying to find a permanent place for both of us (which is what was supposed to happen).

Any help you can give me would be appreciated, and maybe there's something I can do for you in return.
