I'm in my early 30s with chronic kidney disease, and am currently trying to prevent me and my 65 year old mother from becoming homeless again.
10 years ago, we spent two years bouncing between homeless shelters. In 2014, a family member graciously allowed us to move in with him. It was a miracle that he'd given us a home after some of that scary things we dealt with in the shelter system.
Unfortunately, last May that family member passed away after a battle with prostate cancer that had spread to some of his other organs. I fell into a bout of depression while I was dealing with my grief, and wasn't able to come out of it till this spring. By that point, it was too late, we fell behind on the rent.
This summer, I decided that I was ready to stand on my own two feet, and provide for myself and my mother (who also has struggles with her health) by trying to become gainfully employed. I applied to numerous jobs with no luck.
Two weeks ago I have my resume a makeover, and have had two interviews since that seemed to go great. In April, I'd thought that I made a deal with my landlord for the rent so I had no concern and was just concentrating on getting a job.
Fast-forward to August 14th 2024. As you can guess, the unexpected happened. My landlord is threatening eviction within the next 5 - 10 days if I can't pay the outstanding balance of the rent. The balance is almost 12k.

The last 20 years of my life have been dysfunctional and at times felt like hell. The past 5 months though, have been a daily hell.
My older brother was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 almost 20 years ago. He has always refused medication. In his own words, he "loves" being manic. When he has a manic episode, he becomes violent and dangerous and causes chaos. My parents and I have dealt with physical abuse, sexual abuse, robbery and harassment. I myself do not have a relationship with him at all because of all the things he has done to me and my parents, however my parents see it differently. "He's my son!".
No matter what he may do, they are there for him and feel guilt over his actions. Long story short, he had another manic episode back in February. After 20 years of never really doing anything about it, my parents would finally call the police when he would become violent and cause damage. (In the past my parents would scold me for calling the cops on him, even when he had a knife to my moms throat). My parents finally got a restraining order on him and kicked him out of the house (he's 38). I have been waiting for this moment for 20 years.
In May, my brother came to our house and he beat my dad to the ground and also hit my mother and threatened to kill her. My dad could barely walk and had cuts all over his head and arms. He was arrested on May 5th. My parents felt destroyed by this. I am glad he's in jail awaiting court sentencing but my parents have completely lost it. They are depressed and feel guilty. They have stopped taking care of themselves and my mom lost her job. They look and feel so unwell, that fear they will become sick or have a heart attack. Everything I have paid for and done, is to help them, NOT my brother.
I helped pay $7,000 to get a forensic psychologist to come to trial and help prove that my brother is mentally ill and should do his time at a mental health facility instead of jail. I helped pay for his new insurance since he was on medical but needs a better insurance ($900 per month). I am paying for my mothers therapist and psychiatrist. I have never seen her so torn down, talking about wanting to die because she failed her son. I lost my job in March due to my brothers constant harassment, they chose to let me go. He has made my life a living hell. I in no way want to help him, but need to for my parents well being. I am currently $6,900 in debt and have $50 dollars in my checking account.

My brothers court date is on July 26th and I'm hoping that's when the judge decides the outcome, that way my parents can finally begin to heal. I am trying to be strong but I have been a mess as well, not knowing how much longer I can go. I grew up in a very poor,problematic household. Seems like genetically we all have problems with our teeth. I’m only 22 and I’ve already lost a tooth and overall they are not very aesthetically appealing to the eye. for a young person like me it really hurts my self esteem and i really don’t wanna go outside too much to communicate with people and make friends cause I’m ashamed to smile but how can I live if I’m afraid to smile?

I respectfully request your financial assistance. I am located in the Caribbean and is currently unemployed, married has two children ages sixteen and twelve. My wife has been also unemployed for the past couple years because of mental health issues, depression, panic attacks on a regular basis and also suffers from high blood pressure. I have always been the main bread winner for the family but for the two past years I encountered a knee injury, which has seriously incapacitated me from working up to this present day. My inner tendons of my right knee is severely damaged after falling by my bathroom area and was told then, by my doctor that healing will take some time eventually leading to surgery for a full recovery or total healing. This has resulted in serious financial problems as before my injury, already exited such issues, making matters worse not being able to service my monthly bills, feeding my family etc. It has been a horrific and very stressful life for the past two years, as we have been evicted twice rent in arrears, my children not being able to attend school, we had to resort to online schooling because that was the cheaper way out, no books to buy, no uniforms, shoes to buy, no transportation fees, Lunch expenses etc. My children, hurts a lot because they er performing excellently at school, my daughter graduated from high school last year high passes in all her subjects. Last year as well my son was suppose to write an exam to graduate from primary school as we call it in the Caribbean or junior high to high school but he was not allowed to write the exam because of his many absence from school. In fact we have paid some of my daughter ‘s fees, there is a balance but have not been able to pay any fees for my son and we hope they will be allowed to commence the second year this coming September. Rent is in arrears again, utility bills also in arrears, water, electricity and internet. Water and electricity are especially worse as there was recent disconnection, terrifying experience, interfered with the children ‘s schooling, my wife ‘s pressure went up the roof, however had to borrow money to reconnect adding to the list of debtors that I owe. With both utility companies, I had to get into agreements to pay arrears and current bills monthly, I have been struggling to do that. My car has been parked because of the situation, no insurance, no licence, needs tyres, air condition not working and needs suspension parts. My licence has been expired since March 2021. I want to get my car back on the road so I could rent it out, part of my plan to generate income. Most of all, we are not eating proper meals on a daily basis. That hurts a lot in regards to the children. However, my wife ‘s mental state has worsen because of the entire situation, which is why I would greatly appreciate your assistance. In light of the above explanation, considering the entire situation and according to my calculations am humbly requesting about US $3000. I lost my job during the covid lockdown in 2020. Since then it has been difficult to get another job. I have a lot of bills to pay, plus my rent is almost due (next month).
