My name is Lisa, and I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this.  This last 4 or 5 years has been filled with many life lessons, as well as son life changing events. I am a mother of two handsome boys whom I love to no end.  In 2011, I married my oldest sons father, thinking that after 16 years he had become a better person, and was ready for a family, only to find out he was an alcoholic that hid it very well after a physical confrontation between the three of us, I knew it was time for him to go, we had only been married for three months, this lead to many sleepless nights of psychological abuse as he wouldn’t let me sleep, which was hard as I worked full time.  Before he left he drained the account, ran up bills amongst other things.  Last year I had lost all hope when I tried to take my life.  My oldest son was living here, dating a girl, who felt she could be rude all of the time which led to her physically assaulting me, and my son stood by her to tell me how horrible of a mother I was only because I asked for financial help as he too was working full time.  I had to get loans, both personal and pay day in order to make ends meet, and am still 10 steps behind.  I am working full time, and am working hard to get my emotional and financial security back one step at  time.  I have recently been diagnosed with PTSD, severe anxiety which has lead to insomnia as well as depression, which I am getting the necessary help.  I am not asking for a set amount of money, but anything would help.

If you are reading this you must be interested to see what kind of help does this student need. I am a third year international relations student from Bosnia and Herzegovina and this is the way I am trying to find way to travel to a student conference in Germany. 

If you are still here and think my post deserves some attention, here is why I need it. The student conference is called Gristuf and it's held every two years. I was able to attend the conference in 2016 and I had the time of my life. This student conference gathers international students from ALL over the world, last year there was 100+ students coming from Africa, Asia, USA and all over Europe. I made a bunch of friends coming from different backgrounds and cultures. I cheris the diversity and think it opens up my eyes more as in being more open minded and tolerant. Conference itself is free of charge and they cover the accommodation by placing the students with random hosts from this small German city (another way of experiencing the diversity - living in strangers house for 7 days), the problem here are the TRAVEL expenses. Being from Bosnia and being a student from a normal working class family, I simply don't have enough fundings to travel to this German city. The distance is around 1000 kilometers so plane is the only way. Flight tickets are around 180 euros (around 200 dollars). The conference is in June so I have around month to try to find fundings for travel. This is one of the ways I am trying to find enough money to attend, I believe there is enough kind people on this world that it is simply not possible that there is no one to help in certain way, at least with moral support. Gotta chase the dreams and meet new people from all over the world, that is why we are made for, right?

Recently depression hit me really hard & I was having suicidal thoughts. I went the hospital to seek help & my job had replaced me while in the psych ward. I was only a temp to hire so I cant file for a lawsuit. My job had laid me off & Ive been scraping to pay my bills. I am left with only 20 dollars. I just found out yesterday May 7 & I gor out of the hospital May 2nd but my doctor cleared me to work May 7th. I am a woman in the UK and am currently experiencing severe financial hardship and would be extremely grateful for help.

I graduated from university 3 years ago with a science related degree.   Since then, I have tried very hard to find a permanent job.   I have not been fussy and have applied for a wide variety of roles, but I have only been able to obtain temporary work, mostly in offices.  It has been very disappointing to be told over again by employers that they are happy with my quality of work, but do not need my services anymore.

My last position ended in January this year and since then, I have really struggled on Universal Credit.  I have a debts which I cannot pay, and am struggling with the rent and general living expenses such as clothes, travel and food.  I am currently on a token payment plan with Step Change, but have been advised to obtain a debt relief order, which I don't want, but is looking like my only choice.

My debts were mostly caused by borrowing money to study and improve my prospects.  I have also incurred debt in the past due to moving costs, as I have relocated a few times in the past to find work.

I received a letter from my landlord a month ago threatening me with eviction.  Although I have come to an arrangement to pay what I can, this incident has caused me extreme stress and I have been prescribed antidepressants by my doctor.

I have lived in my home for 8 years, but have never been able to afford to fully furnish it.  I do not have curtains or full carpet in the bedroom.   The walls in the hallway and living room desperately need painting.  My vacuum cleaner is of poor quality, so I've been unable to vacuum properly.

Although I have been applying for jobs and attending interviews, I am struggling to afford new suitable clothes and shoes which I can wear to interviews.  The shoes I have are worn and hurt my feet.  

I am also finding it hard to afford travel costs to interviews.  I volunteer with FoodCycle once a week, but lately I have not been able to afford to attend the Tuesday evening sessions.  This has led me to feel depressed and isolated. 



I plan to use the money I hope to raise in the following ways:

- Clearing rent arrears

- Reducing my other debts

- Furnishing my home

- New clothes and shoes for job interviews
- Travel costs for job interviews and volunteer work.  I would also like to take driving lessons to improve my job prospects.

I am also planning to further my education in the future, although I haven't decided on anything definite yet.
